The Railway Coach Repair and Carpentry Shop was
designed to make it as simple as possible to repair both the interior and
exterior of any coach. Here, tasks such as repairing, painting,
renovations, and woodwork are conducted on both business and public railway coaches. This shop occupies one of
the 24 stalls to which locomotives or coaches would be accessible via the
covered 100-foot turntable.

| Major repairs to steam locomotives were handled in the
"Back Shop". In this shop, cranes, lathes, blacksmiths, boiler makers,
mechanics and machinists were all available to service boilers, wheels and
any major overhaul of any of the thousands of parts in a steam locomotive
that might need repair. |
